Certificate of conformity of the quality of fresh fruits and vegetables
Within the requirements for quality and marketing of fresh fruits and vegetables, the concept of quality is determined by the commercial appearance of the fresh products presented for sale, by the visual characteristics (freshness, size, shape and color) and conditioning (sorting, packaging, labeling and presentation) of them. The existence of a certificate of conformity of the quality of fresh fruit and vegetables is considered a factor to reduce the risk of non-compliance with quality requirements for fresh fruit and vegetables
This certificate is an optional document, which economic agents can obtain for products intended for import, export/re-export or in other cases where the economic agent wants to additionally attest that the products meet the quality requirements.

- 1Step 1. Submission of the application
The applicant (or his legal representative) submits the set of documents necessary to obtain the Certificate of Conformity of the quality of fresh fruits and vegetables at the headquarters of the territorial subdivision for food safety in which he operates.
- 2Step 2. Paying for the service
The applicant (or his legal representative) pays the fee for sampling and inspecting the batch of fresh fruits and vegetables to the quality requirements at the bank. If the fee is paid at the bank, the applicant presents the proof of payment to the responsible inspector to be uploaded into the system, or uploads it into the personal system.
- 3Step 3. Processing and Review
The issuing authority (the specialist from the ANSA territorial subdivision) examines the application and the accompanying documents, evaluates the conditions of activity of the operator in the food chain and decides on conducting a control visit to the economic agent indicated in the application within 5 days of receiving the request.
- 4Step 4. Performing the check
Conducting a visit by the inspector to identify the lot, take samples and inspect a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables for quality requirements, including packaging.
- 5Step 5. Release/deferral/refusal of release
If, following the control, it is established that the products meet the quality and marketing requirements, the certificate of conformity of the quality of fresh fruits and vegetables is issued, on paper, at the request of the economic agent
If the products do not meet the quality requirements, the certificate of conformity is not issued and the prescription to re-assure compliance with the quality requirements is issued.
