Vehicle driver examination

The examination of candidates for the theoretical test for obtaining the right to drive vehicles shall be conducted in accordance with the provisions of point 16 of the Methodology of conducting the examination for obtaining the right to drive vehicles and documentation with a driving license, as follows:

1. For categories A, B, H and sub-categories AM, A1, A2, B1, the candidate completes a questionnaire consisting of 24 items. The time allowed is 30 minutes. In order to be marked ''Admitted'', at least 22 items must be answered correctly.
2. For categories BE, C, CE, D, F and sub-categories C1, C1E, D1, D1E, the candidate completes a questionnaire consisting of 30 items. The time allowed is 38 minutes. In order to be marked ''Admitted'', at least 27 items must be answered correctly.
3. For category CE and D, CE and sub-category D1, sub-categories C1E and D1, the candidate completes a questionnaire consisting of 36 items. The time allowed is 45 minutes. In order to be marked ''Admitted'', at least 32 items must be answered correctly.

The theoretical test integrates in a questionnaire multiple-choice items, the answer variant is selected by the candidate on the monitor of the place occupied in the "Examination Class".

The results of the theoretical test marked "Admitted" or "Rejected" are generated automatically by the computerized examination complex "Examination Class", printed on paper.

The practical test of the examination for the right to drive vehicles shall be taken by candidates who have obtained the mark "Admitted" in the theoretical test, except for persons admitted in accordance with the provisions of point 11 of the Methodology. 

The examination of candidates for the practical test, which is part of the examination for obtaining the right to drive vehicles, shall be conducted in accordance with the provisions of point 24 of Methodology of conducting the examination for obtaining the right to drive vehicles and documentation with a driving license, as follows:

1. For category A and sub-categories AM, A1, A2 and B1, the practical test shall be held on the training ground/specially prepared ground. The results of the examination shall be recorded in the questionnaire/board on paper for each candidate. The questionnaire/board with the results of the practical test shall be signed by the examiner who has conducted the respective examination, in person.
2. For categories/sub-categories B, BE, C1, C1E, C, CE, D1, D1E, D, the practical test shall be conducted on the road under real traffic conditions. Special manoeuvres will be carried out, as indicated by the examiner, according to real traffic conditions. The results of the examination shall be recorded in the questionnaire/board on paper for each candidate. The questionnaire/board with the results of the practical test shall be signed by the examiner who has conducted the respective examination, in person. 

Examination vehicles used for the practical test must correspond to the category/ sub-category for which the right to drive is applied for, with the technical construction and size parameters as specified in Section 3 "Training vehicles and their equipment" of the Annex to Law no. 131/2007 on road traffic safety. 

When conducting the practical test of examination on the road under real traffic conditions, the examination vehicles of the examination subdivisions and/or vehicle drivers' training units shall be used, equipped with audio-video system, in accordance with the technical-applicative requirements and the manner established by the Agency. 

Other examination vehicles may also be used for the practical test of the examination on the training ground in category A and sub-categories AM, A1, A2 and B1, provided that they are included in the Automated Information System "State Register of Transportation" and have undergone regular technical testing. 

In order to obtain the right to drive vehicles, persons with disabilities shall take the practical test with a vehicle of the requested category/sub-category, adapted to their disabilities, and the right to drive vehicles and the driving license obtained must contain the codified information about their right to drive only such vehicles, according to the provisions of Government Decision no. 12/2009 for the approval of the Norms on the medical examination of vehicle drivers and candidates for obtaining the driving license.
