Paternal indemnity
Monetary right granted for the care of the newborn /adopted child, to the father insured in the public social insurance system.
The paternal allowance for the care of a newborn/adopted child is granted to the father insured in the public social insurance system, employed under an individual employment contract or in a service relationship based on an administrative act, as well as to the self-employed person practicing activity in the justice sector.
In the case of twins or multiple children born from a single pregnancy, the father of the newborn children is entitled to paternal allowance for each child. The father of adopted children is entitled to paternal allowance for each adopted child.
The father of the newborn or adopted child:
- he was granted, upon request, parental leave at all the units where he carries out activities in the first 12 months from the date of birth of the child/from the date of approval of the adoption;
- confirms the required total contribution period of at least 3 years or at least 9 months completed in the last 24 months prior to the child's birth date/ from the date of approval of the adoption;
- requested the establishment of the paternal indemnity within 12 months from the date of the child's birth/ from the date of approval of the adoption;
- has earned an insured income in the last 3 months preceding the month of the child's birth/month of approval of the adoption. Paternity allowance is granted for a period of up to 15 calendar days for each newborn or adopted child. Paternity allowance may be granted in full or divided into up to 3 fractions, each of at least 5 calendar days.
In the case of a self-employed father working in the justice sector, the paternal allowance is established from the date of birth of the child/from the date of approval of the adoption, for a period of 15 calendar days for each newborn or adopted child, without the condition of being on paternal leave.

Submission of the request:
a) at the counter, at the TOSI that established the maternity indemnity or at the TOSI within the area of the domicile | National Office of Social Insurance House (gov.md);
b) electronically through the portal www.servicii.gov.md or www.cnas.gov.md.

Free of charge 30 days from the date of submission to TOSI of the application with the necessary documents, and in the case of the electronic application - from the date of registration of the application in the information system.
If the application submitted to the territorial office does not include all the necessary documents or if the documents submitted are incorrectly/incompletely completed, the applicant has the right to submit, within 30 calendar days from the date of registration of the application, the documents that are missing or that have been corrected/completed.
If the information required to determine the paternal allowance is incorrect/incomplete or if some data is found to be missing, the examination period is extended until the correct/complete information appears by 30 days from the date of expiry of the general period.
